On how we make ourselves irreplaceable by AI…

To anyone who’s been paying attention, or looking up from the haze of our screens while we pry ourselves away from being enamored by ChatGPT… we’ve seemed to reach this inflection point whereby we see a confluence of events: economic downturn, inflation, big tech layoffs, and a quality-of-life in jeopardy.


How do we stay resilient in these turbulent times?


I suggest you take a good look at your job or role and really inquire if it’s subject to being replaced by AI or a machine-learning algorithm. I’m making this suggestion having drawn inspiration from Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport, Futureproof by Kevin Roose, and 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari.


Whether you’re a designer or digital marketer, think about your unique affect on your role. We are a collective of individuals and it’s our strengths as well as imperfections that make us unique and irreplaceable.


Big tech and countless industries have shown us that they will downsize, cut costs, and lay off a ton of talent in order to stay nimble and pay their CEOs the grandiose bonuses they believe they deserve.


What makes me feel as though I’m irreplaceable? I believe it’s my reservoir of empathy, my dedication to tea experiences, and my eclectic background.
